About Amanda Cox Interiors
My name is Amanda Cox, and I am the chief designer at Amanda Cox Interiors.
My interest in art and colour started when I was very young and may come from the fact that my mother is a practising artist so at home we were always exposed to colour and to art.
My early working career was spent in Fleet Street in financial public relations and then in the City. From there I went back to University to study for a degree in Archaeology at the University of Cambridge. After graduating with a BA (Hons) I worked in the Department of Archaeology. I was responsible for organising all the practical and administrative aspects of an archaeological dig in Turkey and thus honed my project coordination skills, an aspect of my career experience which I use in coordinating building alterations for clients.
However I always longed for a more creative role and spent my vacations taking courses in interior design, curtain design and curtain making and thus began my foray into interior design and decoration. For the last eleven years I have supplied bespoke curtains and selected paint colours, carpets and artwork to suit my clients and I have coordinated building alterations and renovation work.
I spend my leisure time visiting art galleries and studying the work and lives of various artists which is also an inspiration for me.
